Every tournament produces upsets. This year the FIFA Confederations Cup saw some major upsets. After World Champion Italy’s loss to Egypt, it was the turn of European Champion Spain. Spain lost to under dog United States by a margin of 0-2 in the semifinal of Confederations Cup. With this Spain’s undefeated run comes to an end. This type of upsets are not new. There have been many such upsets in the history of soccer. The defeat of France in the hands of Senegal in 2002 world cup is a similar example. The Champions League 2009 has been won by veteran Spanish Club Barcelona FC. They have achieved this millstone by beating last year champion Manchester United. The most important thing is that three of the four teams that made it to the semi final were all English Teams. But ultimately it was Barcelona who had the last laugh. Barcelona defeated Man U by a 2-0 margin. The winning story was written by Samuel Eto and Messi. The early break was given by Eto. After that Messi sealed the victory with a fiery header to which Van der Saar had no answer. Lionel Messi becomes the highest goal scorer with nine goals. ManU Great Christiano Ronaldo was out played by Messi. He made a good attempt by a free kick but without any good results. This time the English boys could not defend the title. Messi describes this win as the greatest win in his career. I am the happiest person alive”, he says after the match. This may cost Ronaldo the FIFA footballer of the year award. What an achievement to such an amazing player!!! Messi is surely going to rule the soccer world in the times to come.

IPL is on full flow now. The tournament is getting more and more interesting. Lots of talents have come out from all the teams. Among the big performers of IPL Mathew Hayden, RP Singh, Rohit Sharma and Shane Warne are drawing attention of everyone. The consistence performance of Mathew Hayden and the clever bowling of Warne has grabbed every one’s attention. But among all of these big performers one stands tallest. Among all the IPL matches till now, yesterday’s battle between defending champion Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders has been the most exciting. This match has made one thing clear that IPL has more to offer in the days to come. It was a great battle between the two teams. The match remained tie till end and later it was decided by a super over in which Rajasthan Royals had the last laugh.
After winning the toss, Kolkata decided to bowl first. Rajasthan royals batted satisfactorily and ser a target of 151 which was not so big and not so small. Yusuf Pathan high scored with a 21 ball 42.With this target Shane Warne the captain and coach of Rajasthan Royals started his battle. Chris Gayle gave a very good start to Kolkata Knight Riders. But teenager Jadeja got his wicket. After that Kolkata kept on losing wickets in regular intervals. So it seemed that Rajasthan Royals were tightening the grip. But then came Sourav Ganguly.Dada took the challenge and made the target receivable. He made some nice stokes to made it possible for Kolkata to win the match. In the last over Kolkata needed just seven runs to win. Warne then gave the responsibility on teenager Kamran Khan to deliver the last and most important over. Kamran did not disappoint Warne. He got Ganguly caught behind the wicket. Then a situation comes when Kolkata needs two runs in the last ball. Baller was Kamran and in front of him was Ishan Sharma.Ishan drives hard but Shane Warne stops a certain boundary. Ishan takes one run and get run out while trying to take the second run. The match was thus tied. Then the famous super over comes. Kolkata starts with Chris Gayle and Mcculum. Again the baller was Kamran.Gayle drives three consecutive boundaries and set a target of 16.He got out in the last ball. It was a good target given by KKR. From Rajasthan Royals Yusuf Pathan was given the responsibility. He drived two consecutive Sixes and then takes two run. Then he takes the winning runs. FA cup this year has seen many setbacks. As the tournament is progressing towards end, it has seen more and more surprising results. The biggest surprise came yesterday when Manchester United lost to Everton in penalty shootout. Nobody could have ever thought that Man U, the strongest contender will not reach the final itself. The match between Manchester and Everton remained goal less till extra time. So it had to be decided with the help of penalty shoot out. First Berbatov and then skipper Ferdinand failed to convert penalties into goal. Manchester however missed their key player Ronaldo.Rooney was not there too. Last week Liverpool was out of the tournament. Now Manchester has joined them.

I have seen a lot of movies. Among all these movies, Gladiator has left a deep impression in my mind. Probably Gladiator is the most inspirational movie i have ever seen. This movie has a strong script and some great dialogues. The unbelievable performance by Russell Crowe has made the movie really a great one. Gladiator got the best motion picture’s Academy Award in the year 2000.In total it won five academy awards. Russel Crowe got the best actor Academy award for this movie. Everything is shown vividly in the movie. The fight between life and death in the arena has been shown in such a way that it will drive you to that era. You will the fear of the slaves who were faced with certain deaths in the arena. Russel Crowe plays the role of Maximus, the general of the Roman army who turned slave due to a conspiracy. The Emperor himself was killed by his son for the greed of the crown. This was because the Emperor was going to crown Maximus for the bravery he showed in the war against the Germans. But his son Commodus was not pleased with this and this led to the murder of the Emperor.Maximus’ wife and son were also killed. The movie shows how Maximus takes his revenge in the arena. The music, scripts and acting are all indeed in this movie. The dialogues of the movie are still ringing in my ears. Enjoy this movie. You will surely find this movie an inspirational one.

The 2nd Leg between Chelsea and Liverpool for the place in the semifinal of Champions League was unbelievable. Probably this was the most exciting match this season. Liverpool had earlier lost to Chelsea in the first leg by a margin of 1-3.So they had to win this match by any means and with a margin of at least three goals. But Chelsea did not allow Liverpool to go away with the match. They forced Liverpool to a 4-4 draw and thus confirmed Chelsea the spot for semifinal. The starting of the match however tells a different story. Liverpool looked very attacking in the start. At the 18th minute Fabio Aurellio of Liverpool gave them the lead of 1-0 with an unbelievable free kick. Soon after that Liverpool makes it 2-0 with a penalty by Xabi Alonso. At this stage Liverpool fans were thinking that they could make it happen. But their joy was only for a moment. Chelsea striker Didier Drogba started the rampage. The score was 2-1.Soon after Chelsea got a free kick. Alex converted the free kick to goal with a fiery shot. This was probably the fastest shot of the tournament. After that Lampard hits twice to make it 4-2 in favor of Chelsea. This ruined all the dreams of Liverpool. Towards the end of the match, Liverpool scores two more goals to level the score. But they were not able to make it to the semifinal. With this win the last year runners up keeps their hopes alive. Liverpool could not win the match. But both teams gave unlimited entertainment to the soccer lovers all over the world.

Nobody may have known Macheda before the crucial match of Manchester United against Aston Villa. In this match the goal scored by Macheda in the injury time gave Man U a stunning victory and turned Macheda a Hero. This was the debut match for Macheda. He scored a very spectacular decider for Man U and gave them the victory by a margin of 3-2.In that match Star Footballer Ronaldo also scored. But the goal by Macheda was something that drew the attention of everyone. The Italian striker who was never known to everyone got a famous exposure from this goal.Sir Alex Furgusson was earlier in confusion regarding the fielding of Macheda. The Formula One race in the Sepang circuit of Malaysia will be remembered forever. This race was decided not by the performance of the drivers but by the weather in Malaysia. The heavy downpours in Malaysia made the officials stop the race in the middle when there were still 23 laps to go. Earlier the race was full of excitements. Jensen Button was leading from the beginning. When there were 23 laps to go the rains came so heavily that the race had to be stopped for ten minutes. But the rains did not seem to stop. So the race has to be decided at that moment. Jensen Button who was leading until the stop was declared the winner. Nick Heidfield of BMW Sauber and Timo Glock of Toyota got the second and third position respectively. Kimi Raikkonen was driving amidst water for a long time. This was really a rare case in Formula One history when rains become the deciding factor.
